There are programs at the museum throughout the year, including
gallery tours, lectures, classes, and children’s activities
designed to complement the Museum’s exhibits of native arts
and crafts and develop a greater appreciation of natural history.
Ongoing programs
for children include Paleo Pals (featuring Kid Acro), Summer Explorers,
and Kids Kreate. Public lectures have included such topics as
“Women in Ancient Egypt”, “The American Buffalo”,
“New Discoveries in Oklahoma Archaeology”, and African
Art for Life’s Sake”.

The Museum
also features activities such as an “Ask the Archaeologist”
day, when members of the public are invited to bring artifacts,
preferably from the region, for identification. Study trips arranged
by the museum have taken participants to visit archaeological
sites in Mexico, Peru, Brazil, Chile, and China.
Current information
about exhibitions and descriptions of ongoing and future programs
for children and adults, as well as a schedule of coming events
and future museum-organized trips, are all covered in Sherds,
the Museum’s quarterly publication. To be a subscriber,
free of charge, just fill out the form provided on the Sherds
page of this web site.
