Eclipse Prep
October 14th 9am - 11am

On Saturday October 14th, Idabel will experience an Annular Solar Eclipse between 9 AM and 12 PM. This partial eclipse is the perfect opportunity to prepare for the TOTAL solar eclipse on April 8th, 2024. Stop by the Museum Classroom to learn eclipse information and safety tips from Waylon Troyer, Director of the Kirkpatrick Planetarium, and educator Astoria Hallford from Science Museum Oklahoma. Solar crafts, including making your own eclipse viewer and color changing UV-reactive beaded jewelry, will also be available for participants to enjoy. A limited number of eclipse glasses and other eclipse inspired gifts will be available for purchase while supplies last. This is a FREE come and go event that is open to the public, so be sure to stop by and enjoy this rare astronomical event with The Museum of the Red River!
