The Museum operates as a partnership between the City of Idabel’s Herron Foundation, Inc. and the Idabel Museum Society, Inc. It receives no direct government funding. Instead, it depends on earned and investment income to fulfill its mission. It relies on the support of generous people from across the country to grow its collections and libraries.

Its free admission policy is made possible through partnerships with local businesses. It is also supported in part by a membership program. In exchange for their help, members receive invites to exclusive, behind-the-scenes events. They also enjoy benefits like free admission to over 1,000 museums nationwide and discounts in the Museum Store.

The Museum also accepts in-kind donations and gifts of cash. Monetary gifts can be made online or in-person. Individuals who donate online may make a recurring gift via PayPal. Be sure to check with your employer before making a gift. Many companies will match their employees’ charitable donations!

No matter the size of your gift, your generosity is deeply appreciated by us and the community. For more information about non-membership giving, please contact Henry Moy ([email protected]). Please direct all other inquiries to Brian Hendershot ([email protected]).

Where does the money go?
Unrestricted gifts such as general donations or membership go to the Museum’s General Fund, which is directed to the area of greatest need. However, donors can direct their gift to a specific area such as programs or collections.
